Big Block Modifieds Take Center Stage as Speedway Showcase Hits Broadcast Television this Weekend
 
Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (June 7, 2018)- Speedway Showcase is set to break new ground this weekend as the auto racing program moves to broadcast television.
 
Speedway Showcase will air its first of five episodes for 2018 on Saturday, June 9 and Sunday June 10 in Upstate New York.  After 10 years exclusively on cable, the Hot Wings Media programming is now available to nearly every television viewer in the three major markets.  The season-opening “Ice Breaker 50” for the Big Block Modifieds from the Weedsport Speedway will kick off the programming for 2018.  This mid-length for the Big Blocks was a unique format that provided the ideal conditions for a made-for-tv race.
 
The Weedsport event will begin airing in the Buffalo market on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on CW 23 (WNLO).  The Syracuse market will be able to see Speedway Showcase on Sunday Morning at 7:30 a.m. on CBS 5 (WTVH), while the Rochester market airing will be at 10:30 a.m. on CW 16 (WHAM-2).
 
Back again for 2018 are many of the great elements of Speedway Showcase.  Veterans Rich Vleck and Doug Elkins have the call of the race action while Paul Szmal provides experiences insight from trackside.  In addition to all of the racing action, there is another edition of the popular “Kid Question” to bring you closer to the modified stars while another trip to Weedsport would not be complete without another showcase of the improvements made to the facility.
 
A week following the broadcasts, the Weedsport event will be available on-demand at www.SpeedwayShowcase.com.    All prior episodes of Speedway Showcase, along with more contact is found on the website in the all-new A-Verdi Video Container and on the Speedway Showcase YouTube Channel, presented by A-Verdi.

Speedway Showcase to Feature Big Block Modified Ice Breaker 50 and the Sportsman Classic!

Submitted by Speedway Showcase – WEEDSPORT, NY (April 6, 2018) – In another exciting announcement for Weedsport Speedway, two of the most highly-anticipated events of the season have been added to the television lineup for 2018.
Speedway Showcase, which debuted in 2017 with three Sportsman Series events from Weedsport Speedway, has moved to broadcast television for 2018 and will kick off the year at “The Port”.
The season-opening “Icebreaker 50” Big Block Modified event presented by WACK 1420 AM on May 20 will be the first event to air in June, followed by the historic Sportsman Classic presented by Industrial Tire of CNY and powered by Stirling Lubricants on July 3rd.
Hosted by veteran Central New York broadcast talents Rich Vleck, Doug Elkins and Paul Szmal, Speedway Showcase provides years of experience in broadcasting dirt track racing in front of the camera, but also behind it, with Weedsport Productions the driving force for all video content at Weedsport.
“Weedsport’s Speedway Showcase events help to show the region how great Weedsport is, both on and off the track,” stated Rich Vleck.  “We are excited to have the ability to have two Weedsport events broadcasted in to just about every home in Western and Central New York in 2018.”
Speedway Showcase will air in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse television markets.
The 60-minute episodes will be broadcasted on the CW in Buffalo (2:00pm on Saturday June 9 and July 21) and Rochester (11:00am on Sunday June 10 and July 22) and will be on CBS in Syracuse (7:30am on Sunday June 10 and July 22).

Ohsweken’s Triple Crown Showdown Set to Air as Speedway Showcase Season Finale
 
Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (September 8, 2017)- The final Speedway Showcase Episode of the inaugural season is set to air, but it will go out with a bang with a 90-minute show that is sure to satisfy any style of dirt race fan.
 
Beginning this Sunday, September 10th, at 10:30 AM, the Triple Crown Showdown from the Ohsweken Speedway will start broadcasting on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York. Additional airtimes will vary depending on the market and are listed below. 
 
This was the second running of this special event, and just like in 2015, television cameras were on hand to capture all the action.  The weekly 360 Sprints served as the appetizer while the Go Nuclear! Late Models finally kicked off their 2017 Schedule with a thrilling 20-lap event.  Last, but certainly not least, the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series battled it out for 75 laps at “The Big O”. Every lap of feature action is shown plus highlights of each heats as well as full coverage of the late model heats.  Sufficient to say, there is no shortage of racing on this 90-minute broadcast.
 
As part of the promotion for the Triple Crown Showdown, a $5,000 bonus was put out there for any driver that could win two of three features; three drivers attempted the double, but you will have to tune in to see if anyone was successful as host Rich Vleck is joined by expert Doug Elkins in the booth while veteran pit reporter Paul Szmal gives expert insight from the pits. 
 
Speedway Showcase will air regularly at 10:30 A.M. each Sunday Morning, with more airtimes available throughout the week.   After the final airtime, the broadcast will be available on-demand at www.SpeedwayShowcase.com, just as the first five episodes are now.
 
This will be the final episode of Speedway Showcase to air on Spectrum Sports Channel as the station will cease operations at the end of this month.  Speedway Showcase is set to return in 2018 though with a new network partner with details to be announced over the winter months.

Beginning this Sunday, August 20th, at 11:00 AM, the third Beyea Headers Sportsman Series event from Weedsport Speedway will start broadcasting on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York. Additional airtimes will vary depending on the market and are listed below. 
 
A 25-lap feature meant that teams had to get to the front in a hurry and with another all-star field on hand that was easier said than done..  An amazing 11 camera angles were utilized on the night, with two in-car cameras displaying incredible views from the heat of the battle. 
 
Host Rich Vleck is joined by expert Doug Elkins in the booth while veteran pit reporter Paul Szmal gives expert insight from the pits.  In addition to all of the racing action, there is another edition of the popular “Kid Question” to bring you closer to the sportsman stars plus put the drivers on the spot to find out how they make their cars go faster.

Weedsport’s Sportsman Classic Shines on Speedway Showcase Starting Sunday
 
Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (August 4, 2017)- The second sportsman race of the year at Weedsport Speedway just happened to be the 75-lap Sportsman Classic, and the result was a huge car count battling it out for one of the division’s crown jewels. 
 
Beginning this Sunday, August 6th, at 11:00 AM, the second of three Sportsman events from Weedsport Speedway will start broadcasting on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York. Additional airtimes will vary depending on the market and are listed below. 
 
A whopping 65 cars turned out at “The Port” to go after the $2,500 top prize and the Weedsport Production team was there to chronicle it all.  The track was in perfect condition for the 75 lap event and the action was heavy throughout.  An amazing 13 camera angles were utilized on the night, with four in-car cameras displaying incredible views from the heat of the battle.

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (July 22, 2017)- It took five attempts for the first Beyea Headers Sportsman Series event of 2017 to take place, but in the blink of an eye it went by; to chronicle it, the television cameras were in place to sensationalize all of the great side-by-side action.

Beginning this Sunday, July 23rd, at 11:00 AM, the first of three Sportsman events from Weedsport Speedway will start broadcasting on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York. Additional airtimes will vary depending on the market and are listed below. 

Rain knocked out the first four attempts at racing, and while showers hit Weedsport during the afternoon, the speedway staff as well as the race teams were determined to get a night in at the newest crown jewel of racing. The result was some clean yet hard racing for the first checkered flag of the year at “The Port”.

With Weedsport Productions in charge of recording the event, an incredible 12 different camera angles were utilized on the night, including three in-car cameras, a speed shot and the always-popular drone shot. Patriot Sprints at Ransomville Ready to air on Speedway Showcase on Spectrum Sports

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (June 26, 2017)- The Patriot Sprint Tour running at the Ransomville Speedway is a long-standing tradition, but for the first time the great the winged action from the Big R will be sensationalized on television.

The first 60-minute race night on Speedway Showcase will debut this weekend on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York.  Airtimes will vary depending on the market and are listed below. 

This episode is the first time is the six years the Patriot Sprint Tour will air an event on cable, and the first time for Ransomville Speedway.  A full field of contenders filed in to the pits on a clear night and when the sprints finally took to the track for heats, the track was in blistering-fast condition and made for some incredible lap times around the Western New York racing staple.

A total of 10 different camera angles were utilized throughout the night, including two track-level cameras and five cameras riding on-board with some of the best drivers.  Doug Elkins and Rich Vleck walk you through the full-length race coverage from the heats, dash and 25-lap A-Main while Paul Szmal pounded the pits, getting the dirt before they hit the dirt.  The Speedway Showcase team also brings you some unique stories, including the family atmosphere drivers recognize when running with the Patriots and the improvements being made to the Ransomville Speedway in preparation of the big return of the World of Outlaws on Sunday Night, July 23rd.

Speedway Showcase Set to Debut Sunday with Weedsport Season Preview

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (June 14, 2017)- This Sunday, June 18, an exciting season of racing from the Weedsport Speedway will begin; but this Sunday will also mark the debut of Speedway Showcase, which looks back at exciting racing from the 2016 season at Weedsport.

Speedway Showcase will officially premiere this Sunday morning at 11:00 A.M. on Spectrum Sports Channel (formerly Time Warner Cable Sports Channel) across Upstate New York.  Due to rain washing out the first three events of 2017 at the Weedsport Speedway, the decision was made to look back at the great action at the D-shaped oval in 2016.

Included in the 60-minute recap are all three Big Block Modified events from last summer, three Sportsman Series races, the lone visit by the Empire Super Sprints, plus the World of Outlaws Sprint race.  To help transition to 2017, host Rich Vleck sat down with Max McLaughlin, Chuck Hebing, Ronnie Davis III and Jimmy Phelps to get you ready for the summer ahead!

In addition to the 2016 Year in Review and Interviews, the Speedway Showcase crew prepared a pair of sportsman segments from the pits from back in May to highlight their anticipation for the year, plus allowed a little insight in to their racing history in our “Kid Question”.
